COVER LETTERS FOR ASSIGNMENTS #1 AND #2
Cover letters are required for initial and revised drafts of both Assignment #1 and Assignment #2, Letters should be a (substantive) paragraph to a page long, and should address the following:
INITIAL-DRAFT COVER LETTER: What do you see as the strengths and the weak points or possible problem areas in this draft? What, if anything, are you still confused, concerned, or unsure about in your handling of the assignment? What aspects of the draft would you like your readers to pay special attention to? What specific questions would you like them to address in giving you feedback?
REVISION COVER LETTER: What were the most useful elements of the feedback you received from your peer editors? If you decided not to act on some of the comments you received, what was the basis for this decision? What changes have you made since the initial draft, and why? What kinds of TA or instructor feedback on the revision would be especially useful to you?
IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO THE OPTIONAL REVISION OF ASSIGNMENT #1 OR #2, be sure to include all earlier drafts in the packet you turn in, including all peer feedback on the initial version, all instructor or TA feedback on the first revision, and both cover letters, In addition, please supply a third cover letter summarizing the final changes you made, the rationale behind those changes, and questions you’d like your reader to consider in reviewing the newly revised version.
