Digital Video Editing Workshops for Winter Quarter

All classes are held in the Arts Digital Media Lab, Porter D-240; they consist of a presentation and a hands on element

Tuesday 01/31, 6:00-7:30 - Introduction to Final Cut Pro

In this class you will establish a fundamental understanding of digital video (DV) editing with Final Cut Pro. Topics will cover the limitations and advantages of DV, essential Final Cut concepts, importing media, the workspace and tools of Final Cut, and the basics of editing. Open to everyone, no experience necessary.

Tuesday 02/7, 6:00-7:30 - Working With Final Cut Pro

Now that you have the basics of Final Cut, this class will explore some of the features that make Final Cut an incredibly powerful editing tool. We will cover more tools, transitions, filters, titles, and how they work together. Open to everyone, this class will be most benificial to those with an understanding of basic Final Cut editing.

Tuesday 02/28, 6:00-7:30 - The Power of Final Cut Pro

This class continues to build out an understanding of the creative control made possible by Final Cut Pro. This session will focus on the power of keyframing to manipulate specific video and audio elements as well as motion within Final Cut. Open to everyone, this class will be most benificial to those with a solid understanding of Final Cut editing.

Tuesday 03/7, 6:00-7:30 - Beyond Final Cut Pro

Building on the topics covered in the previous weeks, this class will use the various capabilities of Final Cut to create a project incorporating different types of media and effects. This is a chance to bring everything together and get an idea of the creative possibilities. Open to everyone, this class will be most benificial to those with a solid understanding of Final Cut editing.
