The first step in submitting an assignment in WebCT is to log in to the system. Read instructions on how to log in to WebCT.

Once you have logged in to the system, you should see an icon of a folder with a document, this signifies that your course has an assignment available. Click on that icon and you will be taken to the available assignment for your course.

You can also navigate to the assignments tool by clicking the Assignments link on the course's main page.

The assignments tools shows you what assignments are currently available, and the status of your submissions. Note that in the example above, there is one assignment available (named 'assignment 1') and the student has not yet submitted any files to be graded.

To submit files for an assignment, first click on the name of the assignment.

To continue, click "Upload file". Unless you have been here before, you should see "Student Files: None"

The next step requires that you upload files to the WebCT server. These files should be stored on your local machine. For example, if your instructor wants you to submit a paper, you should have this paper saved to disk on the machine that you are currently using.

After clicking "Upload file" you must locate your file using the "Browse" button. Once you have found it, click "Upload" to send the file to the server.

Your filename can not contain spaces. If you recieve an error that says "Filename contains invalid characters", rename your file without spaces and try again.

You will be returned to the assignment you were viewing earlier and the file you have uploaded should appear under "Student Files". In order to complete the submission of your assignment, check the box next to the file you have uploaded. If you wish to be notified that your submission has been successfully received, enter your email address in the box above the "Submit Assignment" button.
