Course Websites, Multimedia, and Digital Content

Instructional Computing staff are available to help instructors create and maintain websites, web applications, and multimedia; help digitize documents; and provide other course-related technology support.

A wide range and type of electronic materials can be developed, examples include: websites, DVDs, animations, web applications, videos, audio recordings, etc. We can help with both small and large projects. Scope of work can range from developing materials for instructors to showing instructors how to create materials themselves. Online tutorials are also available to augment staff support.

We help deal with the project management logistics and technical challenges, allowing instructors to focus on their teaching goals. Work on digital course materials is integrated with our Instructional Design Support service to help ensure pedagogical effectiveness of the materials developed.

We incorporate best practices and compliance with requirements such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, adherence to web development standards, etc. We provide secure and reliable hosting for created materials on our webserver or Learning Management System (WebCT). All hosted materials are backed up regularly (additional personal backups are encouraged for increased safety).

We offer four hours of free assistance per instructor per quarter. If you need more than four hours of assistance in a quarter, we can arrange for a recharge for services beyond four hours. Additionally, instructors can work on materials for an upcoming class over the course of several quarters to take maximum advantage of free hours.
