Course Websites, Multimedia, and Digital Content - How to Best Use Your Four Free Hours of FITC Assistance
Faculty are allocated four hours of free assistance with creating their websites per year. After that they are charged per hour. To best use your four free hours, please consult this page for help, and e-mail us if you have any questions.
Here's what we'd like from you before our first meeting:
If you already have a web page, but just want changes or updates to it:
- Save the new text on a disk in HTML format.
- (Microsoft Word allows you to choose "HTML" in the "Save As" dialog box. )
- If you want us to make changes to text that's already up on the web, include a text file with the new content, telling us all the changes and where you want the changes made.
- (ex: Change line 3 on page 1 of URL/filename to say "June 99" not "June 98")
- Save the images you want up on the web as GIF or JPEG files and include a note telling us which page to put them on. (ex: Put frog image on page with syllabus.)
If you want us to create a web site for you:
- Save any text you want us to put on the web (syllabi, course outlines, reading material) in HTML format on floppy or Zip disks.
- If you have images (pictures) that you want on your page, save them on a disk in GIF format.
- If you have images in books that you would like on your page, please clearly mark the images you want included and bring the books with you to the meeting.
- If you have text in books that you would like included, please clearly mark the text you want included and bring the books to the meeting.
- (we have character recognition software that makes it quick and easy to turn text from a book into web page text.)
If you have ANY questions, please e-mail us.
