OCEA 80A - Life in the Sea
Winter 2008
Instructor: Dr. Allison J. Gong

In this course you will learn about the plants and animals that live in the sea, the various habitats of the marine environment, and the physical properties of the oceans that affect them. Class lectures will be supplemented by weekly lab exercises and field trips that will allow you to get up close and personal with the organisms we discuss in class.

Lectures meet from 0930h-1040h on Monday/Wednesday/Friday in Baskin Engineering 152. Exams will be held in the same room at the same time on certain days as specified in the course syllabus (see below).

This quarter all lab sections meet on Thursday. Labs meet for the first time on January 17. To hold your space in the class you MUST attend the first lab session. Your student portal will tell you which section you are enrolled in. Be warned: You will be dropped from the class if you do not show up at the first lab session!! Once you are enrolled in a lab section, you must attend that lab section all quarter. If you swap from section to section, your TA may not be able to keep track of you and you might not get credit for attending lab. Make-up lab assignments will not be allowed and late assignments will be heavily penalized.
