1.  Calculate how much water you use in liters every day.

Consider all your usage:  showers, hand-washing, cooking, dish-washing, drinking, and anything else.  Make a list of all your water use, and explain how you measured each one.

2.  Calculate how much water you use in liters per year.

3.  Compare your calculated annual consumption of water to that of individuals in water-poor (< 1 x 109 L capita / year), water-stressed (< 2 x 109 L capita / year), and water-rich (> 2 x 109 L capita / year) countries, and then explain any inconsistencies—knowing that you live in a water-rich country.

4.  What is the source of drinking water in your home town?  Ways to find this out:  call your parents, look on your city’s home page, do a search at the EPA or USGS.  Bonus point:  how much does water cost in your town?

5.  Discuss three things you can do to reduce your water consumption.
