Academic Integrity: Collaboration is a key part of modern scientific inquiries so group discussion will be encouraged both in and out of lab.  However, any work that bears your name alone must reflect your own comprehension of the material.  It may seem incredible, but there really is more than one way to describe dirt coming together to make a rock.  Feel free to talk to us if you are having trouble putting published material into your own thoughts and writing.

Attendance: Let us know before lab if you will not be present.  You must attend lab on the day for which you signed up. NO switching or Òdropping inÓ without advance approval from the TAs.

Grading: Laboratory grades will be based on weekly projects.  All laboratory work is due at the beginning of the following weekÕs lab session.  10% per day will be deducted from late lab assignment grades.  All labs are due at the BEGINNING of lab.

Materials:  ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring your handlens, grain size card, and your textbook.  Other items that will be useful are drafting pens, pencils and rulers.

The purpose of the labs is to provide you with an opportunity to gain more than a rote understanding of the material.  Please let us know if you have any comments, questions or concerns about the course or lab.
